01 / THE BRIEF

A different layout. A clearer vision.

The client wanted to replace the existing bath with a walk-in shower and create a bathroom suited to their preferred layout. This North Finchley bathroom renovation required adjustments to the original plans, bringing together changes to the room’s construction, plumbing and electrical installations.

Our approach focused on making the client’s vision work within the existing room, including the position of the main window and the services needed for the revised fittings.

02 / THE SCOPE

From the structure to the finishing details.

  • Removal of the original bathroom fittings and preparation for the new layout
  • Construction of a rear stud wall around the existing window
  • Shutter installation to the main bathroom window
  • Walk-in shower installation and adjustments to the original layout
  • Rearranged plumbing for the new shower, toilet position and bidet spray
  • Electric underfloor heating installation
  • Wall and floor tiling, including a recessed shower niche
  • LED mirror and ceiling spotlight installation
  • Installation of the basin, vanity and final bathroom fittings

03 / THE APPROACH

Adapting the plan. Coordinating the work.

We adjusted the original layout to accommodate the walk-in shower, coordinating the shower area with the new toilet and bidet positions. A stud wall was constructed along the rear of the room, incorporating service routes and the concealed WC frame while working around the existing window.

The progress photographs show the room stripped back, followed by the new framing and plumbing preparation. Wall and floor tiling, the shower niche and window shutter then brought the revised layout into view before the final fittings were installed.

Electric underfloor heating, an LED mirror and ceiling spotlights formed part of the coordinated installation, alongside the plumbing alterations.

04 / THE OUTCOME

The client’s ideas, brought into the room.

The finished bathroom combines a glazed walk-in shower, stone-effect wall and floor tiles, black fittings and a wall-hung WC. A recessed shower niche, fitted window shutter and timber-effect vanity complete the space.

By adapting the plans and coordinating the work behind the finishes, we delivered a bathroom centred on the client’s wish for a walk-in shower and a more practical arrangement.

PLANNING YOUR PROJECT

Questions you may be asking.

Practical answers to help you plan the work and decide what to do next.

Could a walk-in shower work in my bathroom too?

We’ll need to check your room dimensions, floor and drainage. At North Finchley, adjustments to the original plans helped create the walk-in shower the client wanted. Send us photos and your ideas so we can discuss the options for your own bathroom.

Can you include the same heating, mirror and lighting features?

We can discuss electric underfloor heating, an LED mirror and spotlights as part of your brief. The right installation depends on your room, floor finish and electrical supply, so we’ll review these details before including them in your quotation.

Why was a stud wall added around the window area?

The rear stud wall formed part of this bathroom’s revised design, alongside the shutter fitted to the main window. If your bathroom has a similar feature, we’ll talk through how it could work with the shower layout and the space available.
