01 / THE BRIEF

A fresh start after water damage.

This flat in Poplar, East London, had suffered long-term water damage from an unresolved leak. The owner wanted the property ready quickly, with a fully renovated bathroom and improvements to affected finishes elsewhere in the flat.

Our brief brought the bathroom renovation and additional works together under one coordinated programme.

02 / THE SCOPE

From preparation to the final details.

  • Demolition, removal of the existing bathroom and preparation of the work area
  • Full bathroom renovation, including the shower, basin vanity and WC
  • Tanking and waterproofing preparation to the shower area
  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Plumbing and electrical works
  • Laminate flooring to the front landing area
  • Kitchen worktop replacement
  • Additional skirting and architrave works
  • Protection to communal access and work areas

03 / THE APPROACH

Getting started. Keeping it moving.

To help the owner move quickly, we started demolition and removals before the bathroom delivery arrived. This allowed us to open up the space and progress plumbing and electrical preparation while awaiting the fittings.

By the time delivery arrived, preparation was already underway. We then progressed through tanking, installation and tiling, coordinating the work with the additional flooring, worktop and joinery items elsewhere in the flat.

The photographs below show the original condition, the stripped-out room and the start of tiling alongside the completed bathroom.

04 / THE OUTCOME

A renewed bathroom. A coordinated finish.

The completed bathroom combines a glazed shower enclosure, grey wall and floor tiles, fitted basin vanity, WC and chrome towel rail. The additional laminate flooring, kitchen worktop, skirting and architrave works extended the improvements beyond the bathroom.

Starting the preparatory works before delivery helped keep the project moving towards the owner’s aim of getting the property ready quickly.

PLANNING YOUR PROJECT

Questions you may be asking.

Practical answers to help you plan the work and decide what to do next.

Can you combine a bathroom renovation with other work in my flat?

Yes. The Poplar project also included laminate flooring, a kitchen worktop and finishing carpentry. Tell us about all the work you are considering so we can discuss the order of work and provide a quotation for the agreed scope.

Will you prepare and waterproof the shower area before tiling?

We discuss the preparation and waterproofing needed for the shower as part of the bathroom scope. These stages matter just as much as the visible tiles and fittings, and should be included in the agreed installation work.

Do I need the same tiles and fittings to achieve a similar result?

No. We can discuss the look you want, your room size and your budget. Share examples you like and we’ll review how your chosen products can work together in the layout.
